ABOUT THE COLLECTIONS


Voices of South Florida represent spoken word recordings from the lower part of the Florida peninsula. Source materials have been contributed by various archives and oral history programs including Florida Gulf Coast University, The May Hill Russell Library of Monroe County, Turner Technical Arts High School, and Florida International University Library. Themes include urban development, civil rights history, south Florida history, south Florida environment, and many other topics. This is part of the Florida Voices project established by the Florida Electronic Library to support all types of libraries and cultural heritage organizations in Florida in initiating and maintaining digital oral history programs.
